WELLNESS INTERIOR DESIGN & LIFESTYLE CONSULTANCY

Mindful interiors: A lady sat in a window seat mindfully reading a book.

Whether you work from home or not, in our busy hyper-connected world, the boundaries between work and home life are becoming ever more blended, making it harder to create boundaries between tasks and actions and our living and workspace, which has a plethora of negative consequences, from a lack of productivity and focus when trying to work to an inability to switch off and relax when not working.

According to research, one of the main culprits of blurred work-life boundaries is the constant use of technology (laptops, tablets and smartphones) and social media, making work more portable and easier.

WHILST THE ABILITY TO WORK REMOTELY OFFERS UNIQUE LIFESTYLE BENEFITS, IT BECOMES PROBLEMATIC WHEN IT START INFILTRATING PERSONAL TIME.

You only have to look around whilst commuting, in a restaurant or even on holiday and you will see to what extent this is happening. Whilst on a surface level, this may seem harmless, dig a little deeper and the consequences are far-reaching on the quality of our relationships, and being constantly ‘on’ in this way leads to a feeling of being on edge, putting the nervous system in a state of fight or flight, also known as the stress response, and as helpful as this is in moments of danger, to be constantly in this state is incredibly damaging to your physical and mental health.

THE REALITY IS THAT TECHNOLOGY ISN'T GOING TO DISAPPEAR, AND FOR ALL THE NEGATIVES, IT ALSO BRINGS POSITIVE ASPECTS TO OUR LIVES. SO WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO BETTER PUT IN PLACE BOUNDARIES AND CREATE SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENTS THAT MINIMISE DISRUPTIONS AND NURTURE A SENSE OF CALM, FOCUS AND WELL-BEING.

Fortunately, these are the foundational principles of wellness interior design and something I am well versed in exploring and designing into the homes and workplaces of my clients. So if you would like to understand how I can do this for you, please contact me for a no-obligation consultation.
